Missouri River - Jefferson City, MO. The Corps had been traveling 12-14 miles per day when they arrived at "Boone's Settlement" on May 23, 1804. Their schedule was too tight, however, to visit with the legendary Daniel Boone. Two days later, they passed La Charette village, the last non-Indian settlement they would see for 2 1/2 years.
